Here are a few photos of the AMT Hindenburg that I 'superdetailed'.

It is an OK replica, but is still not perfect.

The engine car rigging was corrected as were the fins. I cut new props from sheet brass.

The main problem was that by the time the out of scale fabric finish has been removed, some of the girider lines had be lost or dulled. If I ever do another, which I probably will, I will live with the fabric finish.

Please! Use a smaller apeture setting on your camera! Also, it seems as if the Hindenburg had part of its lower fin cut off! (don't worry this is accurate because part of its fin was removed after being smashed when it was dropping leaflets).

No offence but the engine cars are bad! They are one panel too low!

Frankyboy5, please try and be more tactful when criticising people's work.

No, they are not his fault. The original model came like this!

Well at least he tried to fix the rigging of the engines and tail fins.

Franky, for some one who is just a teen, and admits he does not build models, your awfully critical. I'm sure you read up on airships and may posess good knowledge, but curb your remarks about people's work please. When YOU start building, if you do, then speak your peace about other's models.

Great job!! This gets me excited to put together my model now. I found the smaller Revell version at a hobby shop recently collecting dust, so I bought it. I noticed the giant Graf Zeppelin model kit on the top shelf, but thought it was too rich for my blood. Now all I need is some custom Swastika flags to replace the "PC" decals in the box. I have a question...was the actual Hindenburg logo red or black?

This model sure brings back memories. I built this model back when I was a kid. The hull parts (2 halves) were bowed to where there was about an 1/8 inch gap along much of the hull centerline. I ended up having to clamp it together (till the glue dried) using my Dad's big workbench vise in the garage.

I think I still have the Aviation Modeler article about correcting and superdetailing this kit, let me know if you would like me to scan it for you.

I would appreciate it! I noticed the lack of details, but I like the size.
I will PM you my e-mail address. Thanks!
