This is actually a question that is for every rigid that was made... How did the builders actually attach the cloth covering? Did they make one huge piece that they covered every ring with, or did they move panel by panel?

It was made in large panels. In most cases, a panel ran from one major ring to another and extended across several "facets" of the hull. The edges of each panel had holes with metal rings inserted. These were then laced to the frame much the same way you lace up a pair of shoes (i.e. in a zigzag pattern).
Once the panels were secured, thin strips of fabric were glued in place to cover the gaps. These were called sealing strips. The glue was called dope. This was a waterproofing compound used to strengthen the fabric and help it withstand the environment. Otherwise, the covering (simply cotton) would start to rot and then disintegrate.
