View Full Version : Interested in Drawings/Plans/Blueprints of LZ-1?

I am working on final drawings as we speak. If there is sufficient interest I will make them available. I was thinking of making two versions -- a "presentation" style blueprint that you could frame and/or hang on the wall, probably 11" X 17" and in whatever scale fits on that size paper. Perhaps an ivory or off-white stock with black ink. You would get a side view, front view, and rear view. Maybe a price of $15 plus shipping on something like this.

Then I am considering making modeler's plans which are more detailed. Side/bottom/front/rear views with additional details on parts like the gondolas, engines, transmission, rudders, etc. These would need to be printed in scale. So what scale would people want? I'll be doing 1/72 for myself and was thinking maybe also doing 1/144. Maybe $30 - $35 plus shipping depending on the actual size of the printout. Any comments/thoughts?

Hi Charles,

I would be interested in purchasing both the presentation and modelers drawings.

I/72 sounds like a big model, but it would be fun!

Thanks! Any other preferences on scale? This is all new to me so I have no idea what people want. Popular scales for airship models seem to be 1/700, 1/400, and 1/200. There is one kit out there at 1/144 and only museum builds seem to be larger such as 1/72 or 1/48. I'm drawing my plans at 1/72 but can scale them smaller depending on interest. . .

Would it be possible for drawings to be available digitally (and in Vector format, so eager buyers like me can scale things as we want)....?? That way you could download them, and/or sell them on a disc.

For something like this, I'm afraid not. This is not the sort of subject that is easy to find (who knows how many accurate drawings even exist) so I am inclined to be somewhat protective of my hard work. After all, a lot of hours are going into producing these!

But I can create custom printouts to whatever scale. Let's see how much interest there is in these and we'll figure it out from there. . .

This thread's been viewed 32 times but only 2 people voted? Is that all the interest there is? If you have any interest at all, please cast a vote in our poll! Thanks!

Sounds good! Unfortunately I haven't had any time to look at them for a while. I'm trying to finish my book and I picked up a model design commission first. . . :)

Not airship related, but it is something from WWI! When I get done in the next couple of weeks I'll try to get permission to post something. . . :D
