Good vintage photos of airships can be hard to find online. Many of the better images can be found in the many books published on the subject as well as vintage postcards and sometimes vintage film footage. Collecting this material can be very expensive!

We have invested a lot of time, effort and money to obtain many of the images seen here. The purpose in sharing these images is to provide an invaluable resource for modelers who need hard-to-find reference material for their projects. By creating a community where modelers who share a similar interest can come together, we hope to combine the collective resources of many different people to build a much more thorough and diverse collection of online images.

Many of these photos are so old they can be considered public domain. Many images found in books originally came from public archives. We share all images strictly for personal use as a hobby and NO profit of any kind is made off of images posted on this site. Registration to view images is completely FREE and without any obligation.

We also review, publicize and promote good books on airships and encourage everyone to purchase these books for their own enjoyment. Increased sales of such books helps encourage publishers to keep putting them out. You should buy as many of these books as you can to see all the great information they contain.

If you have vintage images of airships that you are able to scan, please post them here and together we can make our image library grow! :)

I don't have any images myself, but the Canadian Aviation Museum has a few really good ones:

If you search for "r-", you'll get a lot of really good photos of R- series airships (R-100, etc). There's probably other good search terms too.

Accept the identifications of photos at the CAM with caution. A search for "airship" will find six images of non-rigid exhibition airships, all labeled "Knabenshue airship" -- none of which are.
