Very interesting....

I was googling "Scratchbuilding models" and this site came up...

I have been researching, building a large scale Graf Zeppelin for about 8 years now...and just haven't decided in what way.

My high-school art teachers son is named Graf, after, well, you know... They both got me more involved in learning more about Dirigibles.

I am an active reader on the Starshipbuilder boards...(have never posted)

I have many many years of modelbuilding, well since I was like 6... I gradually grew up and started building military models, German WWII mostly. I had Purchased Shep Paines books, and was hooked on "higher-end" modeling. My Dad, started getting into Circus modeling, but he didn't have the patients for building... so he has recruited me in helping him create a 1930's era traveling Ringling Brothers circus. There are very few models if any...and the info and reference is few and far between, very much like Airship building.

My love for airships has also branched into my business life...

I started up a Record store in Savannah, GA called Airship Records. I have also used dirigibles in some of my photography manipulations.

I currently work in the video game industry as a 3D-modeler, Cinematographer and 2D interface artist. I am still scratchbuilding Circus models for my Dad, and trying to find the time for a larger 6-8 foot zeppelin.

Thanks so much for the site, I can't wait to see more!

Thanks,
chilly

Welcome aboard!! It does seem a lot of people would like to build these kinds of models, but maybe don't quite know how. Hopefully we will all discover the best methods together here in this new community. :)

Welcome Chilly!

By the looks of the numbers that haunt this site LTA affecionados are a very rare breed. Building an RC flying Zeppelin is the dream of most of us since we were small which is rather strange when you think about it but it's there just the same. What we really need to do is to organize our thoughts and experiments in order to save repeating the same mistakes (reduce the learning cycle). There's several individuals that are really making forward progress in the art. Till Next...,
